More on becoming a technical tech writer  Clip to Evernote

In a recent podcast, we discussed how you can become a more technical tech writer. Since then, we’ve come across some more comment on this subject.

First off, Michael Stelzner reminded us of a blog entry he posted about writing for engineers. A highly technical audience has a low tolerance for bull, so writing for them can be a challenge.

On his blog, Tom Johnson (who does the Tech Writer Voices podcast) talks about keeping pace with rapidly changing technology. Tom made a great point:

There’s a lot of technical knowledge to master, and the technologies are only expanding. The number of tools available has exploded. And yet technical communicators are often overworked, with multiple projects, tight deadlines, and little budgetary privilege to take technical courses and keep up.
