Rapid Authoring
Rapid Authoring is a highly compressed but efficient variation of DMN's documentation process. Rapid Authoring takes into account that you may need product documentation quickly -- within two to six weeks. This process is intensive, but it gets the job done efficiently and within your budget.
Collecting information
We start off by analyzing your needs and reviewing design and use case documents. This enables us to quickly pinpoint the documentation that's right for your users. Then, we build outlines for those documents.
Armed with this information, we schedule meetings with key stakeholders in the project -- product managers and development leads. Each meeting consists of one or two writers, the subject matter expert, and a whiteboard or flip chart. The meetings last between two to four hours, and are designed to transfer knowledge -- business logic, process flow, user scenarios, and the like -- from the SMEs to us as quickly and as efficiently as possible.
Building the documentation
We take the information from the meetings, and use it to create first drafts of the documentation. Once the draft is complete, we send it to SMEs for review and clarification. At this stage, we involve Quality Assurance and usability analysts, as well as product managers and developers, in the process to acquire as wide a range of perspectives as possible. The goal: fill in any blanks, and provide us with any updated information.
From there, we incorporate the review comments in the documentation, and then put that documentation through a final review. Once the review is complete, we finalize and publish the documentation set.
Partnership, not prescription
The key to Rapid Authoring's success is partnership. DMN Communications works with you. The time that you and your subject matter experts spend working with us ensures that the documentation is the best that it can be -- clear, concise, consistent, complete, and correct.
