Scott Nesbitt to speak at WritersUA 2010 October 19, 2009

DMN Communications is please to announce that Scott Nesbitt will be presenting at the WritersUA Conference to be held in March, 2010 in Seattle, Washington.

In a session titled "Think Simple - A Minimalist Approach to User Assistance", Scott will discuss how to make online help simple, flexible, and designed for the needs of the user.

"This is definitely the biggest, and most prestigious, event that DMN has taken part in yet," said Scott Nesbitt. "It's a great venue for sharing our ideas about simple, scalable, and flexible user assistance." Scott added that "Aaron and I have learned a lot in the last year about simplifiying and streamlining all forms of user assistance. I'm hoping that other technical communicators will find the information useful."

The presentation will:

• Outline the shortcomings of the universally accepted online help model
• Explain why simple doesn't mean incomplete
• Explore how to give users the information they want, in the way they need it
• Discuss how to break down the walls surrounding user assistance
• Look at using technology -- like RSS, wikis, and blogs -- to enrich the overall user experience
